Plantation Walks

Cycling Through Tea Plantation
Enjoy cycling against the cool breeze in a flat levelled scenic track which runs along the sports ground for about ½ km one way and when the kids need to burn off a bit off energy, Green Nest has a smooth track with nice gradient for skate boards and scooters at the sports arena.
Bonfire with Barbeque
A day at the Green Nest resort in the Nilgiris won’t be complete without a bonfire and barbeque. Head down to the Central Gazebo where you can team up with your family and friends for some hip hop Music and dance around the Bonfire. Continue your Arabian indulgence into the night, where you can feast on the finest selection of veg/non veg barbeque right on the lawn as the stars light up the night sky.
Bird Watching
For wildlife enthusiasts, nature lovers and early risers, starting off with a bird sighting walk at 6:30 am on the vast grounds of the resort can be a spirited curtain raiser to a great day. The morning air of the resort resounds with the chorus of hundreds of birds. The Nilgiris region is home to numerous avian species both common and rare. The forested character of the resort and the surrounding Tea plantations attract these feathered guests in large numbers.
Shooting spot
This spot located just adjacent to the resort offers a very beautiful view of the Tea estates. A Walk on the Green carpet to reach this spot is itself a wonderful experience which you should never miss when visiting Green nest resort. You can take beautiful photographs from here.

Dress up yourself and strike a pose in the photo booth. The backdrop surely is going to be priceless. There are a few variety of costumes available which you can choose from.
Tea Tour
Experience the Badaga culture, learn about their history and get a glimpse of the day-to-day life of the locals. During your excursion, indulge in local foods at the market or buy souvenirs for friends and family back home. The Green shop, located in kotagiri, sells organic products made by local people like the Badagas. These include eucalyptus oil, ginger honey, flavoured Tea, organic spices, organic cosmetic products, wooden toys, shawls, bags etc.
A visit to the nearby Tea Factory helps you to see the entire tea making process with all the detailing that goes into it. Guests who do not have their own car/vehicle need to hire a car. Our travel desk will make the necessary arrangements.
Around Kotagiri
Longwood shola

The Longwood Forest which is located within Kotagiri town is an immaculate tropical evergreen forest. It serves as a sheltered refuge for anyone seeking peace and quiet and is also home to the flying fox (a large arboreal squirrel) that is a delightful scene for the zoologists. Longwood is an ideal place for trekking and for bird watchers. Also a resident family of about 20 bison can be seen in the evenings just outside the forest on Milidhane road, grazing.
Kodanad view point

It is 18 kms away from Kotagiri at an altitude of about 6500 ft. on the easternmost ridges of the Blue Mountains and hence the name meaning Terminus Country. From this point, the enchanting valley dips down to embrace the historic Gajalahatti pass glancing at the green carpeted paddy fields of Thengumarahaada and watched over from its Erie by the habitat of River Moyar, River Bhavani and the Mysore Plateau.
St.Catherian’s falls

It is 8 km from Kotagiri located on the Mettupalyam road branching off at Aravenu. This double-cascaded falls is the second highest in the district (250 ft) and it waters from the upper stream of the kallar river crossed by the invisible Mettupalyam-Ooty road beyond the mountains in the south-west. The glittering Dolphin’s Nose of Coonoor is also seen across the mighty gap in the hills-one of the three great systems of faults in the geological formation of the Blue Mountains.
Black Thunder Theme Park

Black Thunder is a water theme park located at the foot of Nilgiris near Mettupalayam at a distance of 30km from Kotagiri. It features India’s largest waterfalls along with other water sports, dry rides and games.
Ralliah dam

Ralliah dam is located 12km away from Kotagiri towards Ooty road. Most of the tourists are not aware of this place. It’s hidden in the forest and from parking area you need to trek 1 km to reach that dam since there is no proper road for vehicles. The dam and surrounded area will provide you an astonishing view. You can spot out Bison or Malabar squirrels in this place.
Elk falls

It is 7 km from Kotagiri and situate above Uyilathi village. The road passes through serenely laid out Badaga habitations. ‘Enroute’ at the Kannerimukku village is found the first European house in the Nilgiris built by collector Sullivan in the year 1819. This house is preserved as the john Sullivan memorial. Though the water is full only in the wet months, the site is always worth a visit. It commands towards the north, a spectacular view of the Echoing Valley of Kookal and a vista of exquisite surroundings.
Rangasamy peak

Rangaswamy Pillar or the peak is considered very sacred by a particular tribal community named Irulas of Kotagiri and is at a distance of about 20kms from Kotagiri. The Rangaswamy rock which is about 400 meters high is literally a nightmare for the rock climbers. This is a very adventurous place which should never be missed in Kotagiri. This peak is visible from Kodanad View Point.
